Marfa Open AiR Exhibition

For the Summer 2019 residency at Marfa Open artists Caroline Partamian and Ethan Primason (NYC) will be debuting their installation inside the gallery at the Marfa Open House. For the course of the month leading up to the show the artists have lived in Marfa in process with a ritualized daily walk through the town gathering field recordings and drawings to assemble a portrait of these intentional activities through visual and audio. Once compiled they then take the drawings and etch them into various sized sheets of steel that are suspended by spring coils to metal frames. Attached and activated to the backside of these sheets of metal are audio amplified transducers that reverberate the plates of steel with a composition by the artists using the gathered field recordings. The installation will be live from August 2 - 11 at the gallery, open for daily viewing.
