[POSTPONED] Experimental Film Workshop and Live Jazz Show

  • Marfa Open House 102 South Plateau Street Marfa, TX, 79843 United States (map)

This event has been postponed and will be rescheduled sometime soon.]

Join us for a night of experimental film and music by Indie Jazz, Folk-Rock band Over Under.

This workshop centers around camera-less filmmaking as a democratic film medium that has been present yet overlooked throughout film history. Together we will consider an in-depth analysis of the different functions of the camera-less film, create a community work which will become a portion of a larger film (working title) “Hands of America,” and think out of the box together. We will watch, experience and create handmade film, while listening to the music of Over Under, whose tour helped inspire this project..

The workshop was created by singer Quinn Thomashow, who has spent the past three years making experimental films. The workshop surrounds something called hand-made filmmaking, and teaches new techniques for creative and intimate expression.

Quinn is making a portrait of the united states through these small films that members make at each workshop! Come contribute your voice and learn about hand-made film!

Over Under was Birthed in the northern foothills of New Mexico, the painted trees of Vermont and the glittering city of Paris. They are a collection of musicians, writers and filmmakers. For years we have tapped our feet to the freedom of jazz, the rhythm of rock and the melody of folk. Together we have performed in large venues, recorded an album and let our music flourish.

We invite you to join us while we travel along the road of our three month escape tour. If you ache for the liberated sounds of jazz or the floating melody of folk rock, then come meet us, Over Under, for a night of wild expression and original music as we embark on The Escape.
